I have personally seen a shotgun "banana peel" after someone tried to clear the barrel of a plug of mud and dirt. The shooter was not hurt. The banana peel section of the barrel was cut off by a gunsmith and mounted to a plaque. The shotgun was perfectly functional with a slightly shorter barrel.

- shotgunwitness
